Belmont Saints Basketball Club

Commitment to Child Safety

Belmont Saints Basketball Club is committed to creating a safe, supportive, and inclusive environment for all children participating in our programs. The wellbeing of every child involved in our club is a priority, and we actively promote a culture where young people feel respected, valued, and protected.

This page outlines our Child Safety Framework— the policies and practices we have in place to ensure all players, volunteers, staff and families feel safe, supported, and respected at all times.

We are also committed to following and complying with all policies and standards set by Southern Districts Basketball Association, reinforcing our dedication to providing a safe and inclusive environment for everyone in our community.

Child Safety Standards and Principles

In line with the standards set by Southern Districts Basketball Association, Basketball Queensland and National Child Safety Frameworks, Belmont Saints aims to uphold and implement the Ten National Principles for Child Safe Organisations and the Universal Principle for Child Safe Organisations. These principles guide how we build and maintain a culture that prioritises the safety, inclusion, and wellbeing of children across all areas of the club.

We believe that every child has the right to participate in basketball free from abuse, harm, neglect, or discrimination. Belmont Saints strives to ensure that all players know who they can speak to if they ever feel unsafe or have concerns about their wellbeing.

Shared Responsibility for a Child-Safe Environment

Our club is committed to ensuring that all players, parents, coaches, volunteers, and officials understand their responsibilities in creating and maintaining a child-safe environment. Through education, awareness, and strong governance, we aim to ensure child safety is embedded in everything we do at Belmont Saints Basketball Club.

Child Safety & Coach Compliance

At our club, the safety and wellbeing of our players is our highest priority.

All coaches are 100% compliant with Queensland’s Blue Card requirements, holding either a valid Blue Card or Volunteer Blue Card. In addition, every coach has successfully completed the Safeguarding Children in Basketball training module, as set by Basketball Australia.

This ensures our coaching team is not only qualified on the court, but also fully equipped to provide a safe, supportive, and child-focused environment for every player.
